Brief History

Power of the Anointed Word Ministry UK was established from humble beginnings by the founding Pastor Franklin J James in the United States of America when he was a student at the then Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences. The ministry, although at the time had no name, started in 1984, when he and a number of other students met to commence Bible Studies whilst in College. This soon it became a time for the young students, lead by Pastor Franklin to meet in prayer services and prayed until late Saturday nights until early hours of Sunday mornings when as yet there were no formal church meetings.

The Saturday night meetings became the main time of service and like many moves of God, prayer was the heart of all the activities that took place in this fledgling movement. In time Sunday services started in the chapel which was located in the dormitory of the College.

In the process of time it became clear to others in this small group that the hand of God was on him and as he began to fulfil a prophesy on his life in Western Pennsylvania in a small town named Coudersport when he was only 12 years old. During his time at the college Pastor Franklin began his first radio broadcast over the college radio station. It was a two-hour broadcast that had music, preaching and teaching according to Elder Goebel, a founding member within the group as he recalled this period in 2004.

After the group left college, Sunday services were held in the apartment of one of the founding members and as the ministry grew, a room was rented in the basement of a bank. As God began to move, the ministry a building was identified through answer to prayers. However, the owner did want to sell. The building however needed much work and with the men in the ministry having regular jobs, work was undertaken during the evenings with much labour that sometimes lasted until midnight. Even when work was being undertaken to prepare the building, the hand of God was evident with people getting healed or released from demon possession.

The services began in that building by consecrating it with a month of prayer and fasting in October 1990 with meeting every night and all-day Sundays. On 1st November 1990, the day after the month of fasting the owner decided to sell building to the ministry. The ministry grew and included a school for young children up to year seven.

The growth of the ministry continued and in August 1997, The Power of the Anointed Word Ministry UK started with four main messages by Pastor Franklin. These were;

• Why there is no revival in the church;
• The Church and Mystery Babylon Revealed;
• Calling of God’s End Time messengers and
• Restoration of the End Time Bride.

The meetings were held at the Training Centre at the “Punton” Room above a Christian book shop at Heathcoat Street in Nottingham City Centre. Whilst Pastor Franklin returned to the United States to continue in the ministry, the work continued in the UK under the leadership of Elder Graham, brother Francis, and our present Pastor Michael.
